Illustration Art by Annie Melik The distinction of this style lies in the fact that art is the idea (brought to life), while an illustration is a depiction (or explanation) of an idea. Fine Art is simply art for art’s sake. Even if I’m commissioned by a client, it would still be fine art. Illustration is illustrating a story or idea. In modern illustration, the intent is most often selling a beautiful image that everyone can enjoy and not a realistic copy of the original. For this style, I require pictures from the client where I can get an impression for building my own interpretation and illustration which can be even considered as a romantic concept. The purpose of my illustration art is to shed light on beauty and inspiration.
